In Quebec, the law (sections 93 to 97) governs the responsibilities and controls of the relationship between general contractors (mains) and subcontractors (contractors) in the construction industry.
Here is a list of the standard or most common documents and proofs that principals must require from their subcontractors as well as an illustration of an example for each (in French).
List of commonly requested proof of conformity:
- Non-disclosure agreement
- Auto Insurance – Coverage Summary
- General Liability Insurance – Summary of Coverage
- Quebec Income Certificate
- CNESST classification decision
- CNESST Conformity Validation – Response Letter
- Business registration (NEQ)
- GST/HST Registration
- QST/PST registration
- Validation of the RBQ License
- Health and safety orientation training
- Portrait of the CNESST employer: Injuries
- Portrait of the CNESST employer: Prevention

All these requirements are already integrated into the NeXafe collaboration platform in order to facilitate the work of managing contractor compliance for main contractors. Project managers and admin can also add requirements specific to their business or project, either directly or through the built-in e-form builder.
The NeXafe contractor Passport allows the contractor to upload all of its documents, share them automatically with its clients when required, and simply automate updates, whether the documents are required or not by one of his clients.
